2021- 2HY Average Rates in the Netherlands

RISING RATES

The Dutch legal market is characterised by high-quality firms and a large and growing number of reputable independent lawyers.

Many of the corporate legal departments and bigger law firms have found it advantageous to engage individual lawyers, and smaller firm partners for their projects, as an alternative to outsourcing the work to the larger traditional firms. LawyerlinQ makes this easy by creating and managing flex pools, and legal supplier communities.

To support our clients in optimising their legal sourcing strategy, we report on the average rates for independent legal professionals in the Dutch market twice a year.

As the Dutch economy recovers from the pandemic, we see an increase in demand for professional legal services and an overall rise in hourly rates.

BAR REGISTRATION? FEES +20%

Since not all legal work requires a bar registration, many legal consultants in the top end of the market give that up. On average, hourly rates of lawyers that hold a bar registration are +20% compared to peers that have given up registration.

MARKET INTELLIGENCE
